Channel 4 has struck a new deal with The Walt Disney Company that will bring its programming to Disney+ subscribers in the UK and Ireland from early 2027.
The agreement will see Channel 4’s linear HD television channel and a selection of its on-demand programmes made available directly through Disney+, at no additional cost to existing subscribers.
The partnership will also give Disney+ viewers access to new Channel 4 programmes each year, with selected titles available on the streaming service on the same day they are released on Channel 4.
Shows included in the deal will span drama, comedy, entertainment and factual programming. Titles include Maya, starring Bella Ramsey, Stepping Up, featuring Denise Welch, and reality series Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins.
Other programmes set to feature include Big Mood, Tip Toe and 24 Hours In A&E, offering subscribers a wider selection of British television alongside Disney+’s existing catalogue.
Channel 4 content will be housed in a dedicated, Channel 4-branded section of Disney+, using the same navigation and viewing experience as the platform’s other content.
Channel 4 chief executive Priya Dogra welcomed the agreement, saying it would give audiences more ways to discover and enjoy the broadcaster’s programming.
She said Channel 4 was home to some of the UK and Ireland’s most talked-about and trusted shows, adding that the partnership would help those programmes reach viewers in new places.
Dogra also described the deal as an example of how collaboration between traditional broadcasters and streaming services could offer audiences greater choice and value.
Adam Smith, chairman of direct-to-consumer at Disney Entertainment, said partnerships with local broadcasters were important as the company continued to develop its content libraries and serve audiences around the world.
He said Channel 4 had created programmes with strong appeal in the UK and Ireland, adding that Disney+ was looking forward to bringing some of those favourites to its subscribers.
The agreement forms part of Disney+’s wider strategy of combining its international content offering with locally produced programming that appeals to audiences in individual markets.
Further details about the full range of Channel 4 programmes available through Disney+ are expected ahead of the service’s launch in early 2027.
